The Supreme Court is Broken, We Need to Fix It
With the latest news of the leaked draft report from the Supreme Court, it is obvious that the following are true:
- The current Supreme Court is basing decisions on religious dogma and not science. Their argument to withhold a life saving medical procedure to women was based on their conservative Christian beliefs, nothing more. They are ignoring common logic, science, and the will of the people, the majority of who support keeping abortions legal.
- Supreme Court justices have committed perjury during their confirmation hearings when they said they would not use their position to overturn Roe vs. Wade
- Mitch McConnell’s abuse of his power has put the Supreme Court severely out of whack with the voters. While Democrats have won the popular vote in seven of the last eight presidential elections, there are only three justices out of the nine nominated by Democratic presidents. The sheer hypocrisy of the Republicans withholding the nomination of Merrick Garland because it was an election year, and then rushing through their confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett in the final weeks of Trump’s term showed that Republicans are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their party in power.
Please call your Members of Congress and say:
I want to see our Supreme Court become fair and legitimate again. The way to do that is to expand the Court now. I need the Senator/Congressman to co-sponsor the Judiciary Act of 2021 (S. 1141 / H.R. 2584), which will expand the Supreme Court by four justices. Nothing less will protect us against the illegitimately-stacked radical, right wing Court that McConnell has installed. Please co-sponsor the Act and work hard to make it law.
I also believe impeachment hearings should be started for those justices who perjured themselves during their confirmation hearings. America can not tolerate perjurers in the highest court of the land if our democracy is to survive.
