March For Our Lives Protest in Arcata
In March of 2018, a nationwide student protest against gun violence was held. Millions of Americans gathered to protest our nation’s unhealthy addiction to guns and the lack of reasonable safety measures that could be implemented to help protect our schools, churches, and other public gathering places.
Several members of Indivisible Ferndale joined the protest locally that was held in Arcata. Even though it was a wet and very chilly day, turnout was strong as we marched through the streets of Arcata.
Unfortunately, in the four years since, the NRA funded Republican Congress has been able to thwart any legislation that attempts to end the slaughter of innocent lives in this country.
Even in the wake of the two most recent mass shootings, the racially motivated attack at a grocery store in a black neighborhood, and the tragic attack at a school in Texas, Republicans are insistent that all Americans, even the mentally ill, should have access to military grade weaponry.
After the first March For Our Lives, 46 NRA backed politicians lost their seats in the mid-term elections. Let’s make that happen again!
Join the march again, Saturday June 11.
