Only 34 days left until . . .

Only 34 days left until . . . the House turns BLUE!  That’s right.  On December 3, 2019, the House of Representatives will officially welcome 40 New Democrats.   I have updated the short video of the California 7 Project to include a win (not yet officially confirmed) in CA-21 for TJ Cox (leading by over 500 votes) in the former Republican held Central Valley congressional district.  If you are keeping track . . . That’s 7 for 7 seats!  Watch the video here.

Read a very interesting SF Chronicle article here on how the Democrats in California used “ballot harvesting” to win the midterm elections.

Corrie’s Kitchen is “open” for December

IF member and new FUSD school board trustee, Corrie Pedrotti, is “baking” her (and her daughter, Quinn’s) way to the Women’s March in DC on January 19, 2019.   To cover the expenses, Corrie is doing a bake sale in December.  She has already sold pies and pastries in November and now has a new menu to share for the December holidays.

Corrie’s Kitchen Menu for December

  • Maple-Walnut Scones (6 for $14)
  • Benbow Inn Currant Scones (6 for $14)
  • Cranberry Scones (6 for $14)
  • Irish Soda Break with butter, jam and tea ($12)

To order, text 601-7240 with your order and the date you’d like to receive it or call 786-4137 and leave a message.

And last, but not least . . .  Public Charge Rule

As the news cycles focus our attention on Trump, his associates and the Mueller investigation, a new threat to immigrants is being committed below the daily white noise.  The Department of Homeland Security is planning changes to the definition of “public charge.”  At its very basic level, public charge means “someone who is dependent on the state.”  But the proposed changes to this rule could have devastating effects on the nation’s immigrant population, especially in California.

Indivisible Ferndale has an action which must be completed by December 10.

Your action:

  1. Read the two articles below from the New Yorker and the Washington Post as background.
  2. Go to this website:
  3. Submit a comment opposing this change to the Public Charge Rule by December 10.

Read the New Yorker article here.
