Bring May flowers . . .

May is the time of year for Ferndale’s rhododendrons to show off their incredible colors.  It is also the time when the Greater Eureka Chamber selects the top finalists from their Rhododendron Youth Ambassador Program.   Each year up to twenty-five high school juniors are selected from among those recommended by area high school counselors.  This year, our own Mariela Rodriguez-Campos was selected to represent Ferndale.  Her mom, Nereida Campos, is an IF community committee member.

If you ever have the opportunity to meet and speak with this young woman, you will be dazzled by her intelligence and poise.   It comes as no surprise that Mariela was the top finalist in this program and received a $3,000 scholarship!   Congratulations to Mariela and her very proud mother!    Read a short article about the program here.
