Call Senator Feinstein today in support of the DREAMer pledge!

This action “just in” from the nationwide Indivisible Movement:

A question we get from blue state folks like you all the time is, “both my senators are Democrats, what can I do to help?” Well, this week, we have some work just for you.

The government will shut down this Friday, December 8, unless Congress passes a “continuing resolution” (CR). A CR allows Congress to extend the current government funding levels and keep the government open temporarily, and Republicans need votes from Democratic senators in order to pass the CR.

Democrats have real leverage here in this fight.  That’s why we’re calling on key Senators to take the Dreamer Pledge, which is a public commitment to vote against the CR unless it has the DREAM Act. Will you make a call?

Senators Kamala Harris (D-CA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) have already stepped up and taken the Dreamer Pledge, but they can’t be alone. We need more Democrats to answer our call, take the Dreamer Pledge, and use their leverage.

Dreamers have gone to our schools, they live and work in our communities, they have families, and now they’re at risk of deportation. And Trump upended the lives of 800,000 Dreamers in September when he rescinded an Obama-era executive action allowing them to apply for work permits and live without fear of deportation. Congress must act immediately to protect Dreamers by passing a clean Dream Act now, and the CR is the best vehicle for this.

We need Sen. Dianne Feinstein to come out on the record and take the Dreamer Pledge.

Here’s the script:

Hello!  My name is [name] and I’m calling from [your city and zipcode].  I’m asking Senator Feinstein to join her colleagues: Senators Harris, Warren, Sanders, Gillibrand, Durbin and Booker in taking the “DREAMer Pledge.”  The DREAMer Pledge is a commitment to do everything the Senator can to pass the DREAM Act by insisting that it be included in the December government spending bill.   Thank you.

Make the Call Now.  Senator Dianne Feinstein (202) 224-3841

In other news . . .

Members of Indivisible Ferndale and Fortuna took over half the College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees meeting room to witness Bonnie Deister and Danny Kelley take an oath as new board members.  It was an amazing moment.  Go here to see more photos.
