Watering down the lessons of Watergate

Ann Ravel, a Democratic commissioner on the Federal Election Commission, a 45-year old, independent regulatory agency that governs the financing of federal elections. It was established during the Ford Administration as a reaction to the abuses uncovered in the Watergate hearings.

Ravel is two months; shy of the end of her tenure. A Californian, and will return here, where she was once a state regulator monitoring election contribution abuses.
