As Congress debates whether to repeal the Affordable Care Act, I want to hear from you about what you want from our system of health care.
Although the Affordable Care Act obviously did not solve all of America’s unique health care challenges, the law made health care more accessible and affordable for millions of Americans, including many in my congressional district. In my view, we should improve it, not repeal it, and it’s clear to me that repealing the law without first putting a comprehensive solution into place would be devastating to families and communities across the country.
Without the protections provided by the Affordable Care Act, families and individuals could once again be denied health insurance as a result of a preexisting condition like asthma or heart disease, young adults could lose their coverage under a parent’s insurance plan, and seniors could lose access to lower prescription drug costs.
To help me better advocate for your health care policy needs, I am asking you to share your experience of what’s working and what’s not.
